Thacker Pass is the location of a controversial lithium mine.[1]

Thacker Pass appears in the 1886 Disaster, NV, 1:250,000 map.[2] That location corresponds with S9 T44N R35E. The 1925 survey plat for that location does not mention Thacker Pass. However, the 1869 plat for 44.0 36.0 shows "Remains of Indian Lodges" at S22 and S23.[3]

The first reference to Thacker Pass in newspapers.com is a 1905 reference.[4]

Thacker Pass could be named for John Thacker (1836-1913), who was a rancher in the area,[5][6] who arrested Black Bart.[7]
