Pacific Railroad Survey

There were five Pacific Railroad Surveys, one of which was passed through the Black Rock Desert area in 1854. Edward Griffin Beckwith was surveying for the Central Pacific railroad.

The Valley of the Mud Lakes etching was created during this survey.
