Thornton states that after the death of Louis Gerlach, "the Gerlach Land and Livestock was broken up and sold to a man by the name of Ed Waltz."
In 1924, Peter Laxalt was sued by Ed P. Waltz who was "doing business under the name Gerlach & Waltz."[1]
Ed Waltz also owned the Bullhead Ranch in Humboldt County.[2]
Ed Waltz died in 1963.[3]
