MV0309.The horizontal coordinates were established by classical geodetic methods
MV0309.and adjusted by the National Geodetic Survey in June 1998.
 MV0309.
MV0309.The NAVD 88 height was computed by applying the VERTCON shift value to
MV0309.the NGVD 29 height (displayed under SUPERSEDED SURVEY CONTROL.)
 MV0309
MV0309.Significant digits in the geoid height do not necessarily reflect accuracy.
MV0309.GEOID12B height accuracy estimate available here.
 MV0309
MV0309.The Laplace correction was computed from DEFLEC12B derived deflections.
 MV0309

 MV0309 STATION DESCRIPTION
 MV0309
MV0309'DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1935 (CP)
MV0309'STATION IS ON THE HIGH, LONE PEAK, THE FIRST PROMINENT PEAK
MV0309'TO THE N OF THE BLACK ROCK POINT, 17 MILES AIRLINE, NW OF
MV0309'THE TOWN OF SULPHUR AND 20 MILES SW OF KING LEAR MOUNTAIN.
 MV0309'
MV0309'STATION, REFERENCE AND AZIMUTH MARKS ARE STANDARD BRONZE
MV0309'DISKS WEDGED IN DRILL HOLES IN OUTCROPPING BEDROCK.
 MV0309'
MV0309'AZIMUTH MARK IS 1/2 MILE SE OF THE SHARP ROCK OUTCROP.
 MV0309'
MV0309'STATION IS REACHED FROM SULPHUR AS FOLLOWS--CROSS THE RAILROAD
MV0309'AND GO NW ON THE OLD ROAD JUST N OF THE SHACK AND CONTINUE
MV0309'ON THE TRACKS 1.8 MILES. TURN SHARP LEFT, ACROSS THE WASH
MV0309'TO THE RIGHT AND CONTINUE NW, 9.0 MILES. TAKE THE RIGHT FORK
MV0309'AND GO 5.8 MILES TO A POINT JUST E OF THE MOUNTAIN, TURN LEFT
MV0309'AND GO W ACROSS COUNTRY 1.3 MILES TO THE BASE OF THE MOUNTAIN
MV0309'AND THE END OF TRUCK TRAVEL. FROM THE END OF TRUCK TRAVEL,
MV0309'CLIMB W TO THE HIGHEST POINT AND STATION. (ONE-HOUR PACK.)
 MV0309
 MV0309 STATION RECOVERY (1940)
 MV0309
MV0309'RECOVERY NOTE BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1940 (JCS)
MV0309'ORIGNAL DESCRIPTION WAS FOLLOWED AND FOUND CORRECT, BUT THE
MV0309'ROAD WAS UNUSED AND BADLY WASHED. A NEW ROUTE IS DESCRIBED
MV0309'BELOW. ALL MARKS WERE FOUND IN GOOD CONDITION. DISTANCES
MV0309'AND DIRECTIONS TO MARKS ARE LISTED BELOW.
 MV0309'
MV0309'STATION IS LOCATED 17 MILES NW OF THE TOWN OF SULPHUR, 20
MV0309'MILES SW OF KING LEAR MOUNTAIN AND ABOUT 11 MILES N OF BLACK
MV0309'ROCK POINT ON A HIGH, LONE PEAK WHICH PROJECTS E INTO THE
MV0309'FLAT FROM THE MAIN N-S RANGE, AND IS ALMOST ISOLATED FROM
MV0309'THE MAIN RANGE. WHEN VIEWED FROM THE SE IT APPEARS AS A
MV0309'HIGH, ROUND, DOME WITH A SMALLER DOME AT THE NE END AND
MV0309'SHARP CLIFFS ALONG THE E SIDE. THERE ARE MORE PROMINENT
 MV0309'PEAKS IN THE BACKGROUND.
 MV0309'
MV0309'STATION MARK IS ON HIGHEST POINT OF PEAK SET IN OUTCROP OF
 MV0309'ROCK.
 MV0309'
MV0309'REFERENCE MARKS ARE IN PROMINENT ROCK OUTCROPS AND EASILY
 MV0309'LOCATED.
 MV0309'
MV0309'AZIMUTH MARK IS IN THE TOP OF A ROCK PINNACLE WHICH IS THE
MV0309'NE, E PROJECTING OF AND LOWER THAN THE LARGE PINNACLE, JUST
MV0309'ABOVE THE END OF TRUCK TRAVEL. IT CAN BE REACHED FROM THE
MV0309'END OF TRUCK TRAVEL BY CLIMBING UP STEEP SLOPE TO N SIDE OF
 MV0309'LARGE PINNACLE ENROUTE TO STATION.
 MV0309'
MV0309'WHERE THE DRY LAKE BED ROAD FROM GERLACH TO SULPHUR FORKS AT
MV0309'A POINT ABOUT 30 MILES NE OF GERLACH AND 10 MILES W OF SULPHUR,
MV0309'THERE IS A SIGN POST IN THE MIDDLE OF A BARE FLAT, AND TRACKS
MV0309'LEADING NW (PIUTE RANCH ROAD). INQUIRE AT SULPHUR OR GERLACH,
MV0309'AS THESE TRACK ROADS CHANGE FROM TIME TO TIME. TURN NW
MV0309'AND N ON THE PIUTE RANCH ROAD WHICH PASSES JUST E OF BLACK
MV0309'ROCK POINT AND CONTINUE N ON THE MAIN TRACKS, WHICH FOLLOW
MV0309'A SERIES OF BARE FLATS ALONG THE E SIDE OF THE MOUNTAINS
MV0309'15-1/2 MILES TO A LONE, DOME-SHAPED PEAK, WITH SMALLER DOME
MV0309'AT NE END AND SHARP CLIFFS ON E SIDE. AT THIS POINT, THE
MV0309'MAIN TRACKS ARE ABOUT 1.0 MILE E OF THE MOUNTAINS, TURN W,
MV0309'CROSS COUNTRY, TO FOOT OF HILL AND END OF TRUCK TRAVEL.
MV0309'PACK W UP STEEP SLOPE TO HIGHEST POINT AND STATION. (ABOUT
 MV0309'1-HOUR PACK).
