The Selenite Range is located to the east of Empire.

Lorry states that Beckwith crossed the Selenite Range in 1854 and F. W. Egloffstein sketched the surrounding area. Egloffstein's drawings were used as the basis for a steel plate lithograph called the Valley of the Mud Lakes[1]
