Falcon Hill is located at the north end of Winnemucca Lake on the west side of Highway 447.

Helen S. Carlson, "Nevada Place Names," p. 111. Named by Anthropologist Richard Shutler in 1960 after being reported by William Shinners and his friends who were exploring the area in hopes of capturing falcons.
