Barrel Spring is located about two miles east of Mormon Dan Peak south of Whiskey Spring near the road to Soldier Meadows.
Carlson states that the name is because barrels were often set into springs.[1]
Note that there is also Barrel Springs, which is a locale near Sulphur.
