Massacre Ranch is located south of Highway 8A in the Sheldon - Hart Mountain National Wildlife Refuge.
Carlson states that forty settlers were killed there [1] [2][3] [4], though Helfrich (1971) [5] and a later study brings doubt to whether a massacre occurred there.[6]
