Sand Pass is located at the southern end of the [[Smoke Creek Desert]].  The Western Pacific [[Railroad]] buildings are on [[Pyramid Lake Indian Tribe]] land.  There is a large sand pit that supplied sand or possibly lime in 1945-46 and again in 1952-66.
